Every Button Click in windows is linked to some piece of code which is executed in the background (this code varies depending on the application). The code often referred to as the handler function determines the response time for the specific action using the GUI.

For Simplicity we can broadly classify the UI Response characteristics into 3 categories as shown below

* A Response that involves creating another child window (for example, clicking on a button causes another window to open, on which you can operate)
* A Response that involves some background computation without popping up a child window (a button click , that leads to some sort of data processing)
