Using System Restore 1.0
When a Windows XP user asks how to fix a problem they`ve recently started having with their PC my first response is to use System Restore to roll it back to a point just before the problem started. I`ve found the majority either don`t know how to use it, don`t know what it does, turned it off because it uses too much disk space and virtually all say that Microsoft`s Help file is not very helpful to which I`d agree. However it is one of the best utilities Microsoft has ever written and works extremely well. Using System Restore is a straightforward, step by step help guide explaining how to use it with a minimal amount of disk space, what it does and how it works. System Restore can return your system to an earlier state if problems are caused by a program you installed, malicious web sites, recovery of deleted files even after you`ve emptied the Recycle Bin, a corrupted Registry as well as many other common problems. RegKey Backup 1.0
CT RegKey Backup is a handy utility for making backups of Registry keys and their sub keys. While it is not a Registry Editor it is an easy to use utility that restores keys that have been modified by programs or web sites. This can be a life saver in certain situations such as restoring your Home and Search page after a sleaze site has taken them over or if a newly installed program changes your favorite settings. Once a backup has been made simply clicking that backup file will restore your settings. Additionally you can use the backup file to transfer your settings to another Computer such as Outlook Express settings and accounts, Explorer settings or any other program that uses the Registry to store settings as most do. MsConfig Cleanup Utility 1.0
Msconfig (Microsoft System Configuration Utility) is a small tool included with most Windows Operating Systems which allows you to enable or disable auto-start Programs and Services. When you type Msconfig into the Run box it opens the program allowing you to stop unnecessary programs from always starting with Windows. However it does not allow you to completely remove an entry from the list. It only removes the check from the box leaving a useless entry in your Registry.
